Diesel Co-Generation Power Plant Calculator 

A Generator incorporated with a Solar array and battery bank can replace the need for the state power grid, the key point is the fuel cost to generate the additional power to charge your battery bank after sunset.

So select the size Generator that produces your daily kWh power usage in approx. 1~4 hour, or enough to top up a battery bank to last until the solar system starts generation power the following morning.

A Negative amounts in Savings fields, indicates the What-if price is set higher than the Actual Fuel cost. 

Australian Natural gas (NG) is measured in units of m3, 1m3 NG=37.79310 MJ/L multiplied by your $MJ rate. Australian residential rate is $0.033MJ.

To convert MJ into $, divide MJ by 37.79310 (1MJ=1m3), this will give you the NG Rate your pay.

NB: Diesel also has =37.79310 MJ of energy per litre, exactly the same as Natural Gas.

* The above 20% Diesel engine efficiency are conservative estimates, compared to a Revetec X4 Petrol Engine results (BSFC of 207g/kWh) or 39.5% efficiency during Independent Testing by Orbital in Australia and Peus Testing in Germany 2010.  Inherently Diesel engines give between 30~50% better efficiency than Petrol engines.

NB: The WVO costs shown in above drop down list are actual costs based on filter cost and Free WVO using existing treatment methods.

Important: Please note that all amounts and estimates shown above can be set to actual market rates, and are used for symbolic estimation purpose only.  The actual figure depends on lots of issues including quality of raw fuel(s), power conditions, operational temperature, altitude and others.  These amounts and figures should be considered as example only, if used as an actual return to investment!
