Neighbourhood Community Energy

Community and Neighbourhood Solar Generation &/or Energy Storage installations are Energy projects financed by individuals or businesses, these are commonly commercial rooftop solar on large apartment buildings that offer there generated energy directly to tenants.

However, with the recent introduction of a process known as Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Energy Trading, the energy being generated, stored or dispatched is Not limited to the site the energy is generated at, as any Customer on the same Distribution network can purchase this Energy.

In Sydney Ausgrid is the electrical Distributor that is somewhat deregulated and consumers can now choose to purchase their energy from a 3rd party energy generator, and therefore procure energy directly from a community or private solar plant, via P2P Energy Trading platform, some call this "virtual net metering", it is basically energy generated by a community solar/wind/Aqua & even a bio-gas plant, that is metered and credited towards the energy supply portion of the subscriber's energy bills.

Large Residential apartment blocks, Commercial buildings & unused land or property with ideal conditions are ideal. In some situations these can vary from 100kW to systems upwards of 1 Megawatt (1'000kw) in size, a 1MW system contains over two thousands solar panels. Community solar participants, also commonly called subscribers, contract via P2P for a portion of the solar array to supply power for their home, office, school, etc. These portions can be a small fraction of the overall kilowatt-hour (kWh) output of the solar project or as large as 40% for a single subscriber.

Purchasing Community & Private Energy:

In 2018 an Australian company "Power Ledger" became a leading disruptive force of P2P Energy Trading in the energy market, by cutting out the middle-man, being the "Energy Retailers", all done by providing a pathway to purchase energy directly from community & Private energy Generators!

So, if you can afford and don't mind that your energy bills have increased dramatically over the last 10 years, that's fine, keep doing the same things, if NOT change your direction or you will be in a worse position in the years to come!

We believe in re-branding the current Electricity Retailer model & call them "Energy Brokers" and minimising the use of State Generated power, in favour of a mass roll-out of Residential, Neighbourhood and Commercial Community Owned Energy Generation, is part of the Big picture to disrupt the deceptive named energy retailers!

Although that may not fare well with low income renters & pensioners, any household that consume around 5kWh day are able to self-fund a 5kWh day micro grid, eg. 3kWh Hybrid inverter, 5.2kWh Nickel Iron (NiFePo4) Battery, and just 2x 500W solar panels fitted to a very small DART unit. That size micro-grid purchase would be self funded with power savings in under 5 years (excludes fitting), and battery storage will provide power independence/savings for approx. the next 10 years.

However, the bottom line actually falls at the feet of the consumers, as ALL homes and medium to large sized businesses can easily and IMEDIATLY become energy independent by installing a correctly sized Solar Array & Energy storage Micro Grid!

Be aware the "self regulated Energy Authority", that is actually owned by State Grid, don't want the community to known that by simply investing in a Micro Grid matched to each premises energy consumption, will NO-LONGER need the Electricity Retailers or the State Grid.

Community Energy Financing:

If a Community Power project remains Under 100kW, they will be able to claim the Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) up completion of installations, this makes Community & Private Generator "Real Energy Retailer", as they are generating & selling there own energy, as most Electricity Retailers don't generate or distribute any energy, they simply compete to send you a bill !
